Uxmal

I did an excursion to Uxmal from Tulum, a minibus picked me up at the hotel, from there it was a long drive with a stop in Cancun to pick some other people up and then we were on our way to Uxmal. Uxmal is far away and that’s why it’s a 2 day excursion with a night at Merida a typical Mexican city halfway and a stop at the small town of Izamal with its Yellow Monastery the main attraction.

UXMAL

I wanted to go to Uxmal when I saw pictures of it in some magazine, the different shape of the pyramid, little bit oval on the side of it and the fact that it was in the middle of a green area with lots of trees. The main pyramid, the Magician’s pyramid is the one standing out  above all the rest.
In the evening there was a light show to lit the buildings up with different colors with a story being told coming out the speakers, the only downside was that it was all in Spanish of which I don’t understand no more than some basic words and sentences.
