London UK – England

November 2002 first time ever to take the Eurostar train from Brussels to London. World famous city so close to my country and still I have never been there before unless to the airports of London Heathrow and London Gatwick. It doesn’t really count cause you not visiting anything in London. That was about to change when in 2002 I decided to go on a citytrip over the channel. I stayed at the Regent Palace hotel in the centre of London close to the tube station Piccadilly Circus. The hotel was a great budget hotel, but closed it’s doors in 2006. In London everything is close when you take the tube, but even if you don’t, it’s easy to find your way from Piccadilly Circus to Trafalgar Square with the lion statues, once you are standing at Trafalgar square you see the Big Ben in the distance, once you walk towards it, you are getting closer to Uk’s biggest river the Thames on which you can take a boat ride to the Tower Bridge. Other places you will see are Westminster Palace, The Tower of London. I liked the typical stuff in London like the English breakfast, the bobbies and their helmets, the red telephone boots and the red double-decker busses that you see in every European city nowadays with the hop on hop off sightseeing tour busses. London is a very popular citytrip, some people just go there for a weekend of shopping , especially during the winter holidays.
